“We hope that you like the look of our new website. We have been working to produce a site which is easier for you to use, whilst also providing more information about our lovely hotel. Some parts of the site are not quite finished yet, please bear with us it should be fully functioning within the next 7 to 10 days.

Winter Works

Over the winter of 2007/2008 we embarked upon a plan of works to ensure that the Hotel will be better than ever in 2008.

The works have included replacing the carpet with a solid oak floor in dining room and adjoining corridor, we have also redecorated the dining room and adjoining corridor.

We also stripped down and overhauled our water treatment plant and central heating system, upgraded the kitchen and re-instated a cold room. We also redecorated and installed new curtains in our public rooms.

In addition to this, a number of bedrooms have been redecorated. The outside of the Hotel also received its fair share of attention, the gardens along the side of our front drive were re-landscaped, a new patio area has been built with a stunning water feature, this should be a perfect place to enjoy the afternoon sun, and the exterior of the Hotel has been freshly painted.

The plan is the beginning of a two year plan and so there are still a number of projects to undertake in 2008/2009. We will keep you informed as matters progress!

Rose Suite

The old Rose Suite had been a cause of disappointment for some of our guests. It was felt that with the high standards of our rooms, our best room should be a really, really super room for that very special occasion. From this feed back we gutted the old suite and the bedroom next door to create a massive Suite. The New Rose Suite now has a separate sitting room with double doors to a spacious bedroom with a luxury bathroom with a double jacuzzi bath, a double shower with 12 body jets and two sinks, sorry it only has one WC !! New Furniture

The Hotel has ordered new furniture for all of the bedrooms and outside furniture for the gardens. This furniture is being made to our specification and is currently nearing completion.

The 2007 Easter Sunday Inaugural Duck Race

On Easter Sunday 2007 we had our first ever Duck Race along the stream which runs through our grounds. A total of 117 ducks were launched in two heats. There were Easter Egg prizes for all of the entries. After the Duck Race we served afternoon tea and home made cakes. The day was a great success with £250 being raised for the St Agnes RNLI. We hope to run a Duck Race on Easter Sundays in forthcoming years.

AA Inspection

The Hotel was inspected by the AA on 12th March this year. The inspector was very pleased with the standards of the hotel, commenting upon the improvements resulting from our ongoing investment programme. We maintained our Three Star Country House Hotel status and our merit score increased to 77% with a further increase to 79% when the new furniture is installed.
The inspector was also "impressed" by the cooking of our head Chef, Colin Hankins, and has awarded the Hotel an AA Rosette accordingly.
