Land and Seascape Painting Course by Ray Balkwill.
For this year we have teamed up with a well known local artist Ray Balkwill. Ray will be running two Painting Breaks at the Rose in Vale during the Spring and Autumn. The dates are:
29th April to 4th May
30th September to 5th October
Ray Balkwill SWAC is a well-known West Country artist whose watercolours, oils and mixed media paintings are much sought after. Born in Exeter in 1948, he graduated from Exeter College of Art, thereafter making a career in advertising as an Art Director. In 1990 demand for his paintings led him to give up his job to become a professional artist.
Ray has held numerous successful solo exhibitions, as well as showing in group and open exhibitions. These include the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, Royal West of England Academy and South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts. He also runs painting courses in Essex, Cornwall and from his studio in Devon. He is a regular contributor to 'The Artist' Magazine and is also author of six books: 'Watercolour Plus' (David & Charles), 'Ray Balkwill's Exe Estuary' (Halsgrove), 'Learn to Paint Coastal Landscapes' (Collins), 'Painting Landscapes with Atmosphere' (David & Charles), 'A Picture of Devon' (Halsgrove). and 'A Picture of Cornwall' (Halsgrove). His work also features in a number of other books and magazines including 'International Artist', 'Australian Artist' and 'Pastel Artist International'.
Course Content
Each day Ray will help his students to develop their artistic talents,and after dinner, there will be an evening talk by Ray. The course will consist of five nights stay at the Rose in Vale Hotel and will include breakfast and dinner on each day. Ray will provide you with four days of personal tuition. Whenever possible Ray will use some of the many local scenic locations such as Trevellas, St Agnes, Chapel Porth and St Ives. A list of required materials will be provided well in advance of each course.
The course is limited to 12 painters, this is to ensure that everyone receives a high content of personal tuition by Ray.
Non Painters
The Course is aimed at those who can already paint, but their non painting partners are welcome to come along. The Rose in Vale is a dog friendly Hotel, so non painters can come along to enjoy a leisurely week in Cornwall with or without their dog !!Tariff per room

Booking Conditions
Reservations may be made by telephone but must be confirmed immediately by a £150 non refundable deposit per person. Once confirmed bookings will be subject to a 100% cancellation charge in respect of any places we are unable to re-sell. We strongly recommend that you take out holiday cancellation insurance cover.
